SECOND DEPARTURE DATE: Because the September 5 date is now sold out, an additional departure date on September 19, 2010 will be escorted by wildlife biologist and former Naples Zoo Board of Directors Presidents Larry Richardson.

Larry Richardson has been a nature photographer since 1981, Richardson’s images commonly appear in publications worldwide, including
Audubon, Defenders, National Geographic, National Wildlife and Wildlife ConservationHe is a founding member of the North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA), served on its Board of Directors from 1996 to 2001 and as president in 1999. From July 2005 through 2007 he served as President of the Board of the Naples Zoo.

Larry writes for magazines and peer-reviewed journals, and frequently speaks on conservation issues.  He co-authored the book, Florida’s Unsung Wilderness - The Swamp with Connie Bransilver.  He is also written about.  His research on animal vocalizations in the early 80’s along with Florida panthers and rare orchids since moving to Florida have been a focus for many magazines and television programs.

He is a wildlife biologist with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at the Florida Panther National Wildlife Refuge in Naples, Florida since 1989.  He regularly appears as a wildlife expert in newspapers and magazines, and on radio and television shows.  His television appearances have included over 60 international and national programs and TV news segments including ABC Nightly News, CBS This Morning, National Geographic Explorer; and on networks such as Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, TBS, and Japanese, British and German television stations.  Richardson also hosted the PBS WGCU-TV series, Florida Landscape; a program on native plant gardening. 

Larry Richardson was raised in California, with a short stint in American Samoa.  He pursued a Bachelors and Masters Degree from Utah State and Mississippi State Universities in Wildlife Management and Ecology.  Richardson has also been a firefighter for the Forest Service, a fisheries tech for California Fish and Game, a park ranger and wildlife biologist for the State of Utah and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Richardson believes passionately about giving images a life- nature photography that captures our attention and serves as a dynamic catalyst for conservation stewardship.
